Follow the 3 steps and links below to gain greater insight into the various aspects of the civilization that your news team has been assigned. Keep in mind that each student will be responsible for covering one aspect of the civilization in the newscast, much like a real news team jumps around from news anchor to news anchor on the nightly news.
As you follow the steps and begin filming your news presentation, remember that above all be creative! Step 1: Research The first thing you must do is conduct research on one of the five themes of your assigned civilization that you will cover in your news segment. Use the links listed below each of the four early civilizations in order to learn more about the following:
Nile River Valley
Step 2: Film the News Segment As you film your news segment with the information on your assigned civilization that each member of your group has researched, be creative! You may consider including commercials or advertisements to convey some of the information, a weather segment, a political biography or celebrity update, current events or some type of featured story. Whatever type of film segment you are responsible for in your group, it is important that you write out a script for the things you will say. This script will be included in a PowerPoint Presentation that will contain the entire script for your group's film production. During production, be sure to put yourselves into the civilization that you will be filming. In other words, be sure to film your content from the perspective of individuals from your civilization instead of as high school students from 2014. Step 3: Presentation & Assignment Each group of students will present their news broadcast in front of the class. As each student observes and views each group’s news segments, you are responsible for crafting three social media posts (1 Instagram post, 1 Tweet, 1 Facebook Status Update) that reflect a reaction to the news you have just heard as if you were a member of society in the civilization that is being presented. For guidance, each post should be crafted in the following fashion:
